FINDING HOME

Best friends since childhood, Romy and Ali share countless memories of growing up in British Columbia. They both have explored all over the globe, but now, living in different cities, they yearned for the nostalgia of their youth and another journey together: the road trip home. They were ready to traverse the breathtaking landscapes and reconnect with old friends and family.

TIGHT LINES IN SQUAMISH

First stop was getting their feet with fly fishing in Squamish. Meeting with an old friend turned fishing guide, they were set for a day on the river casting lines and sharing stories. Jarred and Nicole showed them the intricate art of fly fishing, and even managed to catch the biggest bull trout we’ve ever seen. The laughter and camaraderie felt like a time warp, transporting them back to simpler times.

NO PLACE LIKE LOAM

The next stop, mountain biking on the world-class trails of Squamish. In the morning, they met with Dana, a lifelong friend who knows her way around the trails of British Columbia like the back of her stem. It’s hard to miss in Squamish when it comes to riding bikes, and Dana showed them the best that British Columbia has to offer. The lush forest and breathtaking views made every corner and drop one for the scrapbook.

SCRAMBLING UP MALAMUTE SUMMIT

No trip home is complete without meeting up with Caley to hike the Malamute Summit. The hike was short but the final stretch led them to one of the best damn views in all of Squamish and the Howe Sound. The Stawamus Chief loomed over behind them; a massive granite monolith scattered with climbers. The hike was a perfect interlude, a moment to pause and appreciate the natural splendor of British Columbia before continuing their adventure.

ALL ABOARD THE QUEEN OF COWICHAN

The days in Squamish flew by, and soon it was time to head to Vancouver Island. They drove to the ferry terminal, the cool breeze of the Pacific Ocean greeting them as they boarded. With White Spot burgers in hand and their feet up, they had time to reflect on their adventure so far. Landing on Vancouver Island, they drove towards Comox, their hometown. The streets and houses brought back a flood of memories.

A NIGHT UNDER THE STARS

Romy and Ali found a spot in the trees to set up camp for a night. Turns out that Ali is one hell-of-a cook. Between island-traditions and self-taught culinary excellence, they prepared a dinner of steak and chimichurri that felt like a home-cooked meal only Gordon Ramsay himself could prepare. High above the ground they closed the chapter of the day in their SkyRise HD roof top tent. Trips like this not only remind you of the simple things in life, but also create the stories you’ll tell forever.
